THANK YOU! to your managment and staff for the generous 2009 food donations to Magic City Harvest.
Unfortunately, food purveyors often end up with surplus food. The assumption is that the only option is to throw all that perfectly good food away... But YOU didn't make this assumption... YOU called Magic City Harvet!
Food recovery is a "Make Sense" response to hunger in our community. You don't have to "Feed a Dumpster" anymore, but instead, feed hungry folks.
Your food donation goes to help Magic City Harvest to feed 4,500+ men, women and children in Jefferson, Shelby and Talladega counties. The two MCH refrigerated trucks "stay in the big road" because you give of your excess!
It is only with your food donations that we are able to annually distribute over one million pounds of free donated food to those in nees - helping to alleciate hunger and food waste at the same time. Again, we extend our deepest appreciation for your participation in our food recovery program.

"It is with great honor that we thank you and the University of Alabama Birmingham Campus Dining Services for your extraordinary support in opening your hearts and arms to our women's soccer program at Southern Louisiana University during such a time of difficult circumstances due to Hurricane Gustav.
We were greeted each meal with friendly staff and fantastic food that made for a very pleasant atmosphere. Ms. Lisa at the grill upstairs was a real treat and personable. The entire staff upstairs and downstairs did an excellent job taking care of us and honestly made us feel at home."

"I just wanted to take this time to commend you for all of the time and effort you contributed in making the Board of Trustees meeting in the Hill University Center on February 1st and 2nd, 2007, a success... It would not have gone as smoothly or have been as successful without your hard work."
~Michael F. Raczynski, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs/Student Facilities & Finance
"I have to compliment you on the display of the food. I was impressed when you did the reception for us at West Pavilion, and continue to be. The set up makes everything look so appetizing, and people were very complimentary both on the display and the taste."

UAB International Education Week
"Thank you for working with the Arabic Club to make our portion of International Education Week a success. The food was well-prepared, and well-recieved. I realize how difficult it is to cook ethnic food; both on an institutional scale and with hard-to-find ingredients. Having said that, I think we came respectably close. I enjoyed the Kibbee that I ate and heard good reviews from others in the club.
In addition to the food aspect, the event was a great way for our organization to reach a larger audience. We had numerous students come by who were interested in having their names written in Arabic and taking our introductory class. We had a nice crop of volunteers who chatted with students on everything from visiting Lebanon to Star Wars filming sites in Tunisia.
Thanks for the effort you put into International Education Week. I wish you best of luck today and Friday as you finish out the week's international menu. You can consider Wednesday a success."
~ S. Elisha Gentle, President. Society of Ibn Khaldun, UAB Arabic Club

The Commons on the Green
"There was this dish that was prepared for the International station, I think it was called 'Spicy Sicillian Chicken', but since I had it, I have been searching for this recipe. I have not had any success, but I loved this so much that I was wondering if you guys could email me the recipe!"
"I just wanted to say thanks for giving us a first class dining facility on campus. I would like to thank Sodexho for the quality of food their staff prepares... It's honestly not like you are eating at a "school cafeteria" but like having choices to eat at several restaurants. The food is great... Every single one of my friends absolutely loves the new dining facility and the food that is offered... The one complaint that I have had about the Commons was taken care of as soon as I mentioned it to the administrative staff, and that is all you can ask for. Great service. Thanks again to the UAB administration and Sodexho for this great dining experience."
~Kevin Cope, Customer
"I was extremely impressed with your cafeteria and the quality of food you were serving... I thought the atmosphere of the dining facility was wonderful. I look forward to my next visit to Birmingham so I can stop by one of the finest dining establishments in town."
